"One more win for breathing new life into empty spaces and bringing more family fun to our community." That's how local officials put it, according to WLWT, when Fun City Adventure Park opened inside the old Kroger on Princeton Glendale Road in early September.
The quote covers more than one trampoline park. Look at what actually opened its doors in West Chester Township in 2026 and you see a pattern. A family fun center took over a grocery store that sat empty for years. A sushi concept moved into a closed restaurant's space. A bigger Kroger replaced a smaller one. The brand-new ground, the 49-acre Village North site on Liberty Way, is where most of the buzz is. As of October 10, it's also where almost nothing is open yet.
That changes your fall to-do list. The places you can use right now are mostly in buildings you've driven past for years. The shiny new ones are mostly arriving this winter and next year.
Here's the backstory, because two different Kroger moves get mixed up easily. In 2019, Kroger left its store at 8238 Princeton Glendale Road, also known as Route 747, and moved to the Crossings of Beckett Marketplace a short drive north. The old store was a nearly 72,000-square-foot building, and the Journal-News reported it closing at 9 p.m. on its final night, not at its usual midnight. Kroger's own store listing puts that Crossings of Beckett location at 8000 Princeton Glendale Road.
The building sat there until Fun City Adventure Park took over part of it. The Cincinnati Business Courier first reported the plan in August 2025, and the park officially opened on Saturday, September 5, 2026. Where the produce aisles used to be, there are now trampolines, rope courses, climbing walls, play zones and party space. Fun City's West Chester page also lists ninja courses and bumper cars.
For a household with kids, that means a rainy-Saturday option on Route 747, minutes from the places you already pick up groceries and prescriptions.
Fun City isn't the only business putting money into this stretch of Princeton Glendale Road. The West Chester Development Council's 2026 project roster shows several existing businesses within a few hundred address numbers of the old Kroger expanding their current buildings:
None of these are grand openings. They're businesses that were already here, betting on the same corridor where an empty grocery store just came back to life. The roster doesn't give completion dates for these projects, so expect construction fencing before you get a ribbon cutting.
The second Kroger story is the 2026 one. On June 5, Kroger held the grand opening of its new West Chester Marketplace at 7855 Tylersville Road. It replaces the previous Kroger in West Chester Plaza, it's almost twice as big, and Local 12 reported it as a $38.7 million investment.
At about 123,000 square feet, the new Marketplace adds a Murray's Cheese shop, a Starbucks, a sushi kiosk, a pharmacy drive-thru, a kitchenware department and an apparel section. In June, Local 12 reported that a fuel center was expected to open later in 2026. If you're counting on it for gas, check before you go. Our research didn't turn up a confirmed fuel center opening date.
Same move again: a larger version of something the township already had, replacing an existing store, not a new category arriving out of nowhere.
Down the road, a new building is coming the same way. The 7-Eleven, formerly a Speedway, at 7397 Tylersville Road at I-75 announced plans to tear down its existing store and fuel station and rebuild it as a reconfigured 4,816-square-foot store with fueling. The roster doesn't give a construction timeline, but if you buy gas at that exit, plan for a stretch when it's closed.
The newest opening on the calendar fits the pattern too. Andy Zheng, the restaurateur behind Genki Ramen and its four Tri-State locations, will soft open Kuku Revolving Sushi at 7735 Cox Lane in the Tylersville Corner shopping center on October 15, with a grand-opening celebration on October 17.
Kuku takes over the space Korealistic left when it closed in September 2025. According to the Cincinnati Business Courier, Zheng signed a 10-year lease for the roughly 3,200-square-foot space in April 2025 and invested $550,000 in the buildout. The format is just what the name says: hand-made sushi riding past your table on a revolving bar. The Development Council's second-quarter newsletter already listed Kuku as opened, but the Business Courier's October 9 report, which is more recent, gives the October 15 soft-opening date.
That's about 18 months from lease signing to soft opening. That gap is worth remembering when you look at the projects on Liberty Way.
One more recent addition belongs here: EggHolic, an Indian street food restaurant, is now open at 9774 Cincinnati Columbus Road, according to an August 2026 roundup of new Cincinnati-area businesses.
Village North is the exception to everything above. It's a 49-acre mixed-use development straddling West Chester and Liberty townships. Sycamore Township-based Clous Road Partners is the master developer, working with St. Louis-based Sansone Group on the retail-heavy first phase. In March 2026, the Business Courier reported that construction had started about a year earlier and that the first phase includes five retail buildings on a 13.6-acre portion of the site in West Chester Township.
The anchor is a 40,000-square-foot Whole Foods Market. Whole Foods' own hiring page gives the address as 8310 Liberty Way and lists the store as "Opening Winter 2026," with no specific day. A store that's hiring is a good sign. A season is still not a date.
Here's where the named Village North tenants stand, based on the most recent sources we found:
| Business | Address | What it is | Status as of October 10, 2026 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Whole Foods Market | 8310 Liberty Way | 40,000-sq-ft grocery anchor | Hiring, "Opening Winter 2026" |
| Café Patachou | 8370 Liberty Way | All-day breakfast, lunch, coffee, cocktails | Listed "coming soon," no confirmed opening |
| Veterinary Emergency Group | 8370 Liberty Way | 24-hour emergency pet care | Listed "coming soon" |
| Whit's Frozen Custard | 8350 Liberty Way | 985-sq-ft custard shop | Listed "coming soon" |
| El Rancho Grande | 8350 Liberty Way | Family-owned Mexican restaurant, 4,300 sq ft | Planned, no date |
| Wellness City | 8350 Liberty Way | Spa with red light therapy, cryotherapy | Planned, no date |
| Brassica | 8280 Liberty Way | Restaurant with patio | Expected early 2027 |
The "coming soon" labels come from the West Chester Development Council's second-quarter 2026 newsletter. The Brassica timing comes from the Cincinnati Enquirer's May 2026 report. In March, the Business Courier also reported eight additional lease signings, a few of them from operators opening their first Greater Cincinnati locations.
The smaller Liberty Fields development off Cox Road is in the same pre-opening stage. The roster lists a Rita's at 7734 Liberty Field Drive, a Biggby Coffee at 7732, a Subway at 7736 and a Marathon gas station and convenience store at 7730, none with an opening date.
So the reused buildings are serving customers this fall. The ground-up projects are still on the "coming" list.
Put the confirmed dates in sequence and the season sorts itself out:
Anything else on Liberty Way or Liberty Field Drive belongs in the "watch for it" column until the operator announces a date.
